     Week 3
8 Take Aways

Social media has changed the way news get around. For me, I find this very important to take notice of for the future. As someone looking to make a career in the PR field, the news is key to be aware of. Social media has completely changed the way news reaches its selected audience. Reading the 8 Takeaways[...]  I agree with much of the information, while learning new about stats about Social Media.

The first point rang very true for me. I completely agree that some social media sites involve the news more then others. For example, Twitter is more about sharing a story and getting it out there, without a long debate process. Facebook on the other hand, is like battle ground for news. It seem people will share just about anything they find online. Credible and non credible source, people post away like it is no tomorrow. This is not a bad thing, but it proves that more news stories/multimedia links can be found on Facebook.

The idea of audience engagement is also key to the social media aspect of the news. People have to be willing to share stories they find that resinates with them. For example, people are willing to share more news stories that line up with their personal views and how others like them would view. People are more willing to post news stories that their "followers" or "friends" will agree with. Without this idea of active engagement by social media users, the news would spread less frequently as will as slower circulation.

These points are very important to COM and JRN student to take notice of. Each day there is something new with social media that captivates the user a little more. For future professionals to realize this, I would increase the likelihood of a news organization or company to use it for gain. I hope to take these points and apply them to my professional life in hopes to better prepare myself for the future.
